In case you did not receive the TPA Top 7 email here you go.

Hello Thunderbird Families,

Based on the crazy number of activities on our Thunderbird High School Parent Association (.com) Events Calendar I know everyone is super-busy so let’s get right to the TPA Top 7 points.

1. Attend our next TPA meeting Monday, October 3rd at 6 pm

With an approved budget in place, we will have less budget talk and work to keep our meeting time down to 1 hour. Attend in person in the Thunderdome (Building A, opposite side of the Main Office) or virtually via Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84116595536).

2. Buy your Silent Auction Party Tickets Now

Please share the link below with everyone in your Thunderbird community and please buy your Auction Party tickets now. Party is Friday, November 18th.

3. Buy your Golf Tickets Now

Please share the link below with everyone in your Thunderbird community and please buy your Golf tickets now. Golf Classic is at Papago Golf Club on Sunday, November 20th.

4. Help Sell Golf Sponsorships Now

Contact our Golf and Auction party planning group via [email protected] if you know a business that may sponsor our Golf Tournament.

5. Ask businesses to provide goods or services for us to auction

Contact our Golf and Auction party planning group via [email protected] if you can help gather donated items for our auction. Services, travel, dining, and interesting products provide businesses an opportunity to directly engage potential customers. Directing a share of click ad revenue to our community-based event is a great way for businesses to support our community and connect with customers.

6. Volunteers needed for Homecoming Week Activities

We need parent volunteers on the Thunderbird campus at 6 PM on Monday, October Saturday 17th to chaperone the Movie Night, Wednesday, October 19th, after school (time TBD) to chaperone Bubble Soccer games, Thursday, October 20th for the parade (see point below) and, finally, Homecoming Dance chaperones October 22nd from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Use the link below to RSVP as a volunteer.

7. Join our TPA Homecoming Parade Float

Our Student Government (STUGO) wants a bigger, better Homecoming week this year and they need our help. Our TPA is hosting a “Werewolves of London” float.  Dress as a British Werewolf or as a student backpacking through Europe then help us hand out goodies, and do a little dancing as we ride the float trailer or walk next to the float.  Use the link below to sign-up as a float participant.

Learn the Thunderbird Fight Song Lyrics

If you have attended a Titan football game or Thunderbird High School events that include our band then you have heard the fight song music. But, do you know the lyrics? If you want to learn the lyrics or just brush up before the next game check out the video below.

Volleyball Home Opener a Success

Our Titan Volleyball hosted its first home game of the season. The T-Squad was loud and so much fun. The team was on fire with great play and focus.

Family Activity Pass Printing Delayed

Printing challenges delayed printing our Thunderbird High School Family Activity. The passes are used to cover ticket charges at Thunderbird sporting events. No worries! Our Thunderbird High Admin Team has a workaround. Go to the main gym entrance on Wednesday for the home Volleyball games and someone there will have you on the pass holder list and be ready to check you into the game. Similar drill for Friday. Look for the pass holder ticket window (the two closest to the auditorium) and someone there will be able to check you into the game.

Thank you Thunderbird Volunteers!

By mid-August, our family and community volunteers have already logged more than 300 volunteer service hours. That is just the hours our TPA has counted and estimated across our volunteers and our booster club volunteers. Volunteering is good for you, good for our students, and good for our community. Thank you so much for leaning in and helping make our high school special.

Go to Peace Cream – Help our Volleyball Team

Our amazing, local ice-cream shop: Peace Cream – located at 15414 N. 19th Avenue (in the shopping center just north of Greenway) is hosting a fundraiser supporting our Girls Volleyball team on Friday, August 19th between 4 PM and 9 PM. Bring friends and family to Peace Cream, order some yummy treats, then tell them you are with the Titan Volleyball team so a portion of your purchase goes to help our program.

Join us for the first TPA meeting of the school year

Monday, August 15th, 6 PM in the Thunderdome (Building A, opposite side of the Main Office or via the Zoom link below. Presented below is the meeting packet for our first meeting that includes the meeting agenda, prior meeting minutes, and lots of good material

Help our Titan Cheer compete at nationals

Our Thunderbird High School Cheer Team members have been working for two years towards a chance to compete at the United Spirit Association National Championships in Anaheim, California. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to work as a team and then compete on a big stage. The Cheer Team is raising funds to ensure every member of the team can travel to the competition and in August there are two fun ways you may help our team.

  1. Dine at the Chipotle located in the Super Target shopping center (425 E. Bell Road on August 16th. See the Events page for codes and flyer needed to make sure a portion of your check goes to help our team.
  2. Buy something at the Zag Fundraising Store using the Thunderbird Cheer team code 39936214. Enter that code in the Customers Shop Here section then verify you are on the Thunderbird Cheer page. There are many items to choose from; Popcornopolis, water bottles, silly socks and more. A portion of your purchase goes to help the team travel costs.

Reserve your senior parking spot!
Our TPA is raising funds for campus programs through a fun program where Titan seniors may claim a reserved parking spot in the senior parking lot. Go to the page https://thunderbirdhighschoolparentassociation.com/reserved-senior-parking-spaces/

Thank you Carmel Automotive!

We love our Thunderbird High School community! This weekend Carmel Automotive located at 19th Avenue and Thunderbird hosted our Thunderbird Band Car Wash. Our band students worked hard cleaning all sorts of vehicles brought in by our generous community members helping our crew raise more than $2,000 which will go to help our band compete across the state and put forward the best show possible. Our Thunderbird Band Boosters use the funds for travel costs, supplies, and support material for the band that help our band be their very best. Thank you to everyone who donated to help our Thunderbird kids.

Eat at Chipotle – Help our Titan Cheer Team!

Order food online from the Chipotle located in the Super Target shopping center at 425 E. Bell Road using the code in the flyer below or show the flyer at check-out if you are dining in person. A portion of your purchase will provide funds that our Thunderbird Cheer team will use to help cover travel costs so the whole team can go together to compete at Nationals. Mark your calendar now!

Welcome to the new school year!

Look for our TPA volunteers at the Walk-through registration. Be sure to say hello.

Place your Football Program Ad by August 8th

The Titan Football Program will go to print soon. Place your business ads, personal ads, or place a shout-out to your senior in the Football Program.

Volunteers do amazing work in the Titan Band Room

Our volunteers are critical members of our Titan community. While the students, band support team, and the Band Director opened up Band Camp several volunteers went to work organizing band uniforms, cleaning out old stuff, packing up costumes, dusting, sweeping, and the whole bit to get our Band Rooms organized and looking fantastic. Way to go volunteers!

Support the Titan Band on December 10, 2022, at the Glendale Hometown Christmas Parade in Downtown Glendale

The Glendale Hometown Christmas Parade is a growing tradition as the community comes together to celebrate the season and show their stuff in an old-fashioned town parade through Downtown Glendale. Our Thunderbird High School band earned 1st place in the marching band competition last year. Mark your calendars now to be along the parade route for the 11 AM start. Bring friends and family, enjoy a lovely afternoon, and cheer for the Titan Band.

Volunteers Needed

School registration starts soon. Each class is assigned a specific date Tuesday, July, 26th through Friday July 29th. Thunderbird High School needs volunteers to support several stations that each family passes through during the walk-through registration process. Handing out Google Chromebooks, handing out textbooks, helping families log in to ParentVue, helping with Thunderbird logo spirit wear, and several other stops along the way. Volunteers reduce the time needed for each family to get through the process. Volunteering for a shift is a great way to meet Titan families, support out school, and support out community. Please carve out a four hour time block for one or more days July 26th through the 29th. Go to the Events page, select the day(s) you are available to volunteer then RSVP. Thank you for helping our community!

Titan Football Schedule Released

The 2022 Titan Football schedule is out. You can review the schedule in the picture below or review all the games in our TPA website Events calendar. We can build our own small town experience here in the big city Thunderbird High School community under the Friday Night Lights. Our Titan NJROTC presents the colors, our Titan Cheer dances and leads the crowd, the student support crew cheers and waves flags, student team managers help the football team, community members help keep score and announce the game, our Titan Band performs, Booster club parents are out there helping the students and raising money plus there is an actual football game. Bring your seat cushion to Thunderbird High School for the home games and see if your schedule has room for a road trip. Bring friends, neighbors, family to connect, catch-up, and enjoy the experience.

Signs around campus

Have you ever noticed the signs around Thunderbird High School campus? More than the big, digital sign on Thunderbird Road. Have you noticed the smaller signs around fields, pointing the way around campus, providing instruction or reminders? If no, take a look.

Our campus has fantastic old, weathered signs in various places telling the story of the nearly 50 years of Thunderbird High School students, teachers, and families. Rusty, pock-marked, bent these signs are interesting and photogenic.

Happy Independence Day!

Celebrating the best of the American spirit and best of the American ideal are at the foundation of every 4th of July celebration. We wish you all the best this holiday and thanks to our Thunderbird High School Navy JROTC program for presenting the colors.

Thunderbird High is an “A” grade school

The State of Arizona maintains a single website where families and community members may learn about schools across the state. Information presented includes the most recent performance grades and our Thunderbird High earned an ”A” grade. We have much to be proud of Titans.
